I would like to start off by expressing my sincerest gratitude to Professor Myoungho Sunwoo for handing me the opportunity to run an internship at ACE Lab. This has been, without a doubt, the greatest experience of my life yet. I would also like to thank my colleagues for the general support they provided and the fun moments we had together.

The project assigned to me concerned vehicle control and optimal path generation, with the latter being the most important. It basically boiled down to designing a reliable and user-friendly algorithm that would help the ACE Lab team during the preparation for the Autonomous Vehicle Competition in October. While the project certainly was interesting and challenging, I’m a bit disappointed that I gained no practical or hands-on experience in automotive engineering. I did not expect to be coding for 2 months straight. Furthermore, I would have preferred to work in a ‘team’, like the undergraduate internees, instead of all by myself. In my opinion, efficient teamwork is one of the pillars of engineering. I understand there was not a lot of time to prepare my internship, especially due to the upcoming AVC, but I hope this feedback contributes to future internships.
Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at ACE Lab. International experience is a very precious asset as a student and will be of great value when I kick off my professional career. I also liked that I had to give several presentations. Becoming a great speaker comes with practicing and ACE Lab provided me with ample opportunities. This internship greatly developed my person as a whole.

I found ACE Lab to be a very professional working environment. Everyone is encouraged to learn fluent English, which greatly simplified communication for me, by holding lab seminars and presentations in English. The general level of English at ACE Lab is way higher than that of most other Koreans I came in contact with. The group is also extremely dedicated to their cause which reflects on their results.
I foresee a successful career path for everyone who had the chance to study/work at ACE Lab.

My colleagues were very helpful, friendly and fun to hang out with. I enjoyed every moment we spend together, were it lunch during office hours or the activities outside. I wish I could have spent more time with them but I understand that they do not have a lot of spare time.

The following paragraph is devoted to IAESTE, a wonderful organization. They organize the internships for international students. I have the utmost respect for its members and their dedication for helping foreign internees. Especially the national secretary, Choonmee Cha, did an outstanding job helping me out with the necessary preparations for my internship. All of this would have been impossible without her.
IAESTE provides students with unique opportunities and I can only praise them for that. They certainly helped me experience Korean lifestyle to the fullest by organizing a lot of activities. I established lifelong friendships with both other foreign trainees and Koreans.

In conclusion, this has been an experience of a lifetime. To the ACE Lab family I say - thank you for accepting me as a part of your group for 2 months! I hope we can stay in touch after my departure.
To the IAESTE members I say - keep up the amazing work! You provided me and a lot of others a great service.

I will cherish this memory for the rest of my life.
